End destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife around the world’s oceans
To end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife around the UK's coastline and across the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. To end the slaughter of dolphins in Taiji. Taiji is the international hub for dolphin capture and slaughter.
Small cetaceans are not currently protected under the global moratorium on whaling set forth in 1986 by the International Whaling Commission (IWC),The hunters’ self-allocated annual quota is established without any regard for sustainability. The 2015-2016 season quota for Taiji is as follows:
• 134 Pacific white-sided dolphins
• 450 striped dolphins
• 462 bottlenose dolphins
• 400 pantropical spotted dolphins
• 256 Risso's dolphins
• 101 short-finned pilot whales
• 70 False Killer whales.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We're not sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take on this issue. Petitions need to contain a clear request for action on something that the UK Government or Parliament is responsible for.
If you submit a new petition with a clear request for action, we could look at this again. You will want to bear in mind that the UK Government can work with other countries on international agreements, but cannot on its own achieve international action.
