Petition Details

To end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife around the UK's coastline and across the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species.To end the slaughter of dolphins in Taiji. Taiji is the international hub for dolphin capture and slaughter.

Additional Information

Small cetaceans are not currently protected under the global moratorium on whaling set forth in 1986 by the International Whaling Commission (IWC),The hunters’ self-allocated annual quota is established without any regard for sustainability. The 2015-2016 season quota for Taiji is as follows:
• 134 Pacific white-sided dolphins
• 450 striped dolphins
• 462 bottlenose dolphins
• 400 pantropical spotted dolphins
• 256 Risso's dolphins
• 101 short-finned pilot whales
• 70 False Killer whales.
