Ban Marches of the Orange Order
The march commemorates the win of a Protestant King over a Catholic one at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, demonstrating the struggles faced between Protestant and Catholic to this day. Following the march each year is violence and arrests. The walk is dangerous, bigoted and outdated.
In July 2014 a 12 year old girl received gashes to her forehead from watching their parade in Glasgow Green.
28 arrests were made the same day for Public Disorder Offences.
The Daily Record has already done a poll - 51% on daily records poll say yes to the ban and 49% say no.
- Daily Record 7th of July 2014
The high levels of police involvement, the outbreaks of violence and the effects of transport due to the marches must end now. It's time for a non-sectarian Glasgow!
