Take the NHS out of the hands of Parliament and give it back to the public.
Parliament has demonstrated that it cannot be trusted with the NHS.
Successive governments have subjected it to endless ideological top-down reforms.
We need to establish a stable, long term plan for the NHS which is accountable directly to the public without the interference of the government.
At time of writing, the government is holding a public consultation on their mandate for the NHS: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/setting-the-mandate-to-nhs-england-for-2016-to-2017
It does not run for long and it is not well advertised...
We have the technology to engage the public in a proper two way consultation with the NHS: a robust and transparent system of question and answer.
This will then serve as both a mandate and reporting mechanism to hold the NHS directly accountable .
