Convicted Youths to face 2 year compulsory National Service
Any youth, specifically the unemployed that is convicted of criminality should receive a 2 year compulsory National Service sanction. In particular serving in Afghanistan or Iraq.
This would reduce over crowding in prisons and would give the offenders opportunity to learn a shared set of values and discipline that they appear to have been lacking in their current lives. I would also trust the offenders would learn a new set of skills to equip them on their return to join and contribute positively to the community and 'big society'
