Petition Action

Stop HMRC retrospectively taxing by backdating new or clarified tax laws.

Petition Details

Tax laws should only ever apply going forwards in time.

New or Clarified taxes should NEVER apply retrospectively, its illegal even in Russia & Iran.

Who can plan if new tax bills from 20 years ago 'appear' because HMRC clarified/created new taxes and backdated them 20 years?

Additional Information

Tax legislation should follow the Rees rules and existing HMRC protocol.

Parliament should be made fully aware of tax law changes that do not meet these standards (however deceitfully they have been introduced) and those that do not should be struck off.

HMRC have not been adhering to their own codes of conduct recently and cannot be trusted.

HMRC should be forced to follow its own rules of conduct and protocols, and if not, individual employees should be prosecuted where necessary.
