Change the astronomical official start of winter
The official astronomical winter is defined as the winter solstice until the spring equinox. That means that even half way through December it is classed as Autumn. This is clearly stupid.
Due to the 23.5 degree tilt of the Earth's rotational axis in relation to its orbit around the sun we experience the winter solstice around the 21st of December. This is the "shortest day" and should be considered the middle of winter.
The astronomical definition of winter should CENTRE around the winter solstace rather than beginning on that date.
Starting winter towards the end of December is clearly detrimental to our sanity.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government and Parliament don't control the astronomical calendar.
