Review current commitment to Afghanistan in respect to the events in Sangin.
Resurgent Taliban forces in the Helmand region captured the centre of Sangin on 23rd December 2015. With migrants from Afghanistan constituting the second largest ethnic group attempting to enter Europe the growing insecurity in Sangin could exacerbate the migration and directly affect the UK.
This petition is supported by The Afghanistan and Central Asian Association which was formed in 2001. Dr. Nasimi, Director of the charity, was barred from his native Afghanistan by the Taliban in 1997 and has experienced the difficulties many migrants face in integrating into a foreign state. Building on the lessons learnt in Afghanistan and offering continued support in the UK to refugees and migrants from Afghanistan and Central Asia; ACAA is gravely concerned about the events in Sangin.
