Use part of the foreign aid budget to increase spending on UK flood defences.
I am not affected by flooding where I live but can see the dramatic effect it has on peoples lives and livelihoods. I personally saw damage in Hebden Bridge during previous floods. Now seeing Leeds, Manchester and York affected plus the countless smaller communities that do not get flood defences.
The inability for whole communities to be unable to get insurance cover for flooding is inexcusable.
The Government needs to provide financial support to those unable to get insurance following previous flooding.
Changing your policy would receive widespread backing from millions in the UK as so many feel UK citizens are let down by insufficient spending on the UK whilst maintaining a huge overseas aid budget commitment.
I am not politically active but feel very strongly about this issue.
