To plant trees (especially oak trees) to combat flooding.
The need for housing is so great that consequently houses have been built on flood plains leading to devastation for those who live there. This coupled with the destruction of woods, forests and green spaces has left the environment unbalanced. Trees are a natural defence. The answers lie in nature.
