Petition Action

Make Manifesto's used by political party's at elections binding.

Petition Details

Political parties make a huge amount of promises to gain the vote of members of the public, I believe that if those promises are not kept, changed or new ones are added after elections then those votes have been gained fraudulently and the party in question must be held accountable.

Additional Information

If I went to a job interview and told my future boss I was going to do somthing and got the job as a result , I would be either disciplined or fired if I was unable to do the job I was brought in to do. Coincidently if I didn't mention I was going to do somthing and then did it without my bosses go ahead the same would happen, unless I had a meeting (or refurendum) to decide if indeed my boss wanted me to do somthing that I had not told him I was going to do.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It's not clear what this petition is asking for. We already have a petition calling for a general election if a manifesto promise is broken:

petition.parliament.uk/petitions/111370

If you would like the Government to be held to account in a different way in such cases, you could start a petition calling for that.
