Remove all public commemorations to Winston Churchill

Petition Details

Winston Churchill had a dark side: his racist and genocidal treatment of Indians and Africans during the war years. In 1942 he diverted a grain shipment from India to supply Commonwealth troops, causing a famine that resulted in the deaths of over 3 million Bengalis. His emulation needs to end now!

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Not all public commemorations of Winston Churchill are the responsibility of the UK Government or Parliament. Some will be the responsibility of other public bodies (such as local councils) and of private organisations.
