Solar Panels on Every Council Home
If a scheme was set up to place solar panels on council homes, and buildings then based on Tesco’s solar scheme figures every council home would Earn £885 in tax-free cash back from year 1 (the council could use this money to make up for funding police, schools, sports and leisure facilities that the government are cutting)
Each tenant would save £128 in electricity bills from year 1 (meaning cost of living reduces)
Enjoy tax-free profit of £35,811 after 25 years (if one home made over 35 grand for the council in 25 years. Imagine what a entire estate would generate. There are around 2.5 million council homes in the uk).
With 2.5 million homes fitted with solar panels CO2 emissions would dramatically drop.
So in short (more money for local councils)
Fewer emissions.
And energy could be fed into the grid, meaning energy costs would reduce for non council tenants also saving money for everyone.
