Introduce education about the prison system & uk law within secondary education
Adolescents require increased education around the criminal justice system, and a chance to experience through education just what imprisonment can be like first hand, and as a deterrent from offending. Through hearing personal stories from inmates, prison officers and other professionals.
The government needs to start being pro-active as opposed to reactive when it comes down to teenagers and crime.
In america this idea is used and has been found to reduce the risk of teens offending and living a life of crime.
"A program in the eastern United States invites young people into a prison to try to scare them away from prison. The goal is to teach them to avoid bad choices and bad influences that could put them behind bars for life" (learningenglish.voanews.com)
