Let the British people decide to renew Trident submarines or not in a referendum
This isn't the same as voting on unilateral nuclear disarmament. That is a separate debate. This is a chance for the British people to decide whether to spend an obscene amount of our taxes on what many defence experts consider a strategically imprudent and profligate answer. Why? http://tiny.cc/jkeg8x
Why? Because there are divisions within political parties and military and defence circles past and present on whether to spend such colossal sums on its renewal - £167 billion was the latest figure outlined by Minister of State for Defence Procurement Philip Dunne in answer to Conservative MP Crispin Blunt Oct. 25th 2015."The price required, both from the UK taxpayer and our conventional forces, is now too high to be rational or sensible.."said Blunt See Reuters report http://tiny.cc/evg47x
