Just One Tax
Over a 5 year term, the government should consolidate all our 300 taxes so we are left with one revenue-raising tax and a handful of incentive taxes (max 5).
Having 150 loss-making taxes (including corporation tax) and the longest tax code in the world makes us uncompetitive and is against the interests of the poor and small businesses.
The one tax should be decided by a committee of MP's but a progressive spending tax (outlined by Cambridge economists in the 1970's) would encourage savings and prudence.
