Somaliland Recognition
SSUK (Somaliland Society UK) is calling for your support to persuade the British government to use its good offices and international connections to help bring about the recognition of an independent Somaliland.
Somaliland Republic gained independence from the UK and was recognised as the sovereign State of Somaliland on 26th June 1960. It then joined in a union with Somalia to form the Somali Republic on 1st July 1960. The union collapsed at the beginning of 1991 and Somalia is now a failed state while Somaliland proved to be a success story in the horn of Africa.
