Re-apply ACPO Guidelines on enforcement of speeding offences nationally.
Previously guidelines issued by The Association of Chief Police Officers allowed for a small margin of error by a motorist before action was taken for an offence of 'speeding'. There has been no reason given for the abolishment of ACPO Guidelines which were well researched and necessary.
In applying ACPO Guidelines on Speeding those motorists who break the speed limit momentarily or unintentionally by a very small amount would not receive a fixed penalty notice.
Many motorists feel persecuted as Government statistics show that deaths on our roads have fallen for all road user groups year by year since 2000.
Prosecution for driving at 1 mile per hour above the speed limit seems both unnecessary and disproportionate, there should be a margin of error maintained.
