Ensure faulty Hotpoint tumble driers do not cause another house fire.
There are renewed warnings of the fire risk posed by faulty tumble dryers after a family lost their home and belongings in a blaze at the weekend. Across the country over 700 fires have been blamed on faulty machines made by Hotpoint, Creda and Indesit.
Affected customers are being contacted so that their machine can be repaired but are being told they can still use their appliances as long as they are not left unattended while in operation.
Hotpoint need to put right the fault now before another house fire and householders living in fear of turning on their tumble drier which they bought it good faith.
Offer an immediate replacement or refund the customer.
The estimate is that a significant number of units will be affected, but at this stage the number cannot be speculated. These affected models are in many homes in the country. The risk that this will happen again one would consider high based on the information provided, next time the family may not just lose all their worldly possessions.
