Stop the increase of rent to 'near market value or market value' in council home

Petition Details

THOUSANDS of high earners living in council houses will be forced to pay market rent under new government plans.
Incomes above £40,000 in London and £30,000 in the rest of England who live in local authority or housing association homes will be charged a “market or near market rent” from 2017/18.

Additional Information

The so-called ‘Pay to Stay’ scheme is expected to raise £250 million a year, which will be used to pay down the deficit and generate extra income for housing associations to reinvest in affordable homes.
However, making the poor poorer and the rich richer.
When the average salary to live in the London area for a family comfortable is 60k although the threshold is 30K which is average earnings. The securement of council tenants are jeopardised and harsh implements are taken affect far to quick.
