Review MPs pension age.

Petition Details

Debate why we the people have to wait for our pension, when the MPs get a much more generous pension much earlier.
Would like to see MPs wait till the same retirement age to receive their pensions.

Additional Information

For many years the state pension has been moved so it is received later in life, the MPs pension is not treated the same.

The incumbent government is always saying "we are in it together" , now they can show it.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government and Parliament don’t have the power to set MPs’ pay and pensions. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010, so that after 2012 MPs no longer had control over their own pay. IPSA conducted a public consultation after 2012 and decided what the salaries of MPs should be after the election.
