Put an end to the creeping privatisation of the National Health Service
In a survey carried out by the Commonwealth Fund, 11 health systems, including Canada, the USA and 9 other countries in Europe and Australia, the UK was ranked at no 1 and the USA no 11.
This rush to privatisation, the system most keenly followed in the USA is both stupid and damaging to the well being of all but a few British citizens (those who have a vested interest in the private health care providers). Allowing commissioning groups to include private companies in their tenders is the start of a destructive juggernaut that will ultimately lead to the dismantling of the NHS. If we agree to Transatlantic Free Trade Area (TAFTA) proposals all of the USA private health care companies will have legally protected rights to bid for our NHS contracts. Enforceable by law, and this could include suing the UK Government for unfair competition, if these companies feel they have been disadvantaged in any way.
