Cancel plans for a new "Death Tax". Probate should be the same for all.
The work that the Probate Registry does is the same whatever the value of the estate. There is no excuse to introduce this extortionate, banded tax. Taxing already-taxed money is offensive enough. The Conservative manifesto promised to decrease Inheritance Tax, NOT raise it through a back door.
The amount of money it is planned to raise through this tax is a relative pittance to the UK Government, but to individuals, it will be a fortune to the bereaved and the executors.
Even IHT is one of the UK's least efficient taxes.
If the government cannot balance the budget, the Chancellor must start collecting the billions hidden by large multi-national corporations, and not making some side agreement with these CFOs via a dodgy handshake.
