Lower cervical smears age to 18 instead of 25
Cervical smears used to provided to women at the age of 20 in wales, then the age was upped to 25 due to the fact that cervical cancer is very rare in unders 25's, yet more and more women are having abnormal smears and younger women are being diagnosed with cervical cancer more frequently.
The sooner an abnormal smear is detected then the sooner women can have treatment which will lower the risk of cervical cancer OR treatment that could lead to fertility problems in the future
