Create a 'Citizen Service'
Classroom based citizenship lessons are not enough to teach the values of being a full member of society, therefore, to reinforce classroom based citizenship learning the Government should introduce a compulsory one year 'Citizen Service' for all 18 year olds: all will be required to spend one year reinforcing their citizenship and learning community values, including team responsibility, work ethic, discipline, how an organisation works, and giving something back to society, either in a social setting such as working for the NHS, as a police cadet, or within one of the armed forces.
This scheme would also encourage recruitment within key areas such as the health service, the police and the reserve armed forces.
