Petition Action

Make it mandatory to answer all questions asked in PMQs seriously.

Petition Details

PMQs in its current format is pointless. Prime Minister's Questions is intended as an avenue for government accountability, and should be treated with respect as such.
Thus, the PM should not be allowed to pick and choose which questions he answers, and should answer all with full seriousness.

Additional Information

Additionally, penalisations/injuctions should be in place for the backbench MPs who choose to treat PMQs like a playground, jeering and chanting away serious attempts to hold the government to account. This is necessary to bring back faith in the parliamentary process, which at the moment is at a massive low.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition in its current as it does not call for a clear action from the UK Parliament and Government. For example, your petition doesn't specify who should decide whether the Prime Minister has or has not answered the question.
