Apprenticeships; Stop loss of child related benefits for low income families.
The search for my future career has come to me and I was searching for options for my post 16 education. One option that came to mind was an apprenticeship. However, being from a low income family it soon became apparent that there were great financial implications rendering me unable to do one.
Apprentices even though they are classed as in training they are no longer classed as 'dependants' for child tax credit and child benefit reasons thus leaving families a shortfall of in some cases upward of £80; a sum of which families below a certain income cannot afford to loose.
