Greyhounds must be looked after for their full life, not just their racing life.
There are 15000 racing greyhounds in the UK today but over 3500 go 'missing' each year. Last year the greyhound industry netted £1.3billion in profits so owners, racing stadiums and all betting outlets should be forced to pay a greyhound welfare tax to pay for their lifetime care.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept if your petition in its current form because it does not call for an action which is within the responsibility of the UK Government and Parliament. You could start a new petition calling on Parliament to introduce a welfare tax on the racing industry to help pay for former racing greyhounds who are in rescue centres.
