Raise adult age to 18 for travel, in line with current school leaving age.
At 16 children are unfairly treated, being liable for full adult travel and entrance fees, in spite of the government specifying that all children must stay in full or part time education or apprenticeship until the age of 18 - most children of this age have no way of meeting these costs.
This is already recognised by the government in some ways. Child benefit and child tax credit are paid while a child is in full time education. Prescriptions and dental care on national health are also free while a child is in full time education. Why has child/adult pricing for travel and entrance to cinema, theatre and other attractions not been changed in line with this. Children in full time education are disadvantaged by this. These children are the adults of the future!
