Stop changes to Probate fees. Increases of up to 1000% proposed for some.
Currently probate fees are charged at a flat fee of £215.
Proposed increases would see estates worth between £300,000 and £500,000 attract a £1,000 charge - £785 more than the current fee. Estates worth between £500,000 and £1million the fee would increase to £4,000. SE properties bear the brunt.
The changes would bring in new fees of:
£300 for estates worth more than £50,000 and up to £300,000.
£1,000 for estates worth more than £300,000 and up to £500,000.
£4,000 for estates worth more than £500,000 and up to £1million.
£8,000 for estates worth more than £1million and up to £1.6million.
£12,000 for estates worth more than £1.6million and up to £2million.
£20,000 for estates worth more than £2m.
