The government must ensure schools provide instrumental lessons for all pupils
It has been proved beyond question that the experience of learning a musical instrument and playing in musical ensembles with others provides a complete 'brain work out' - developing skills that are not just related to music but also skills that enhance both learning and development throughout life
There have been numerous studies showing the cognitive development of children who play an instrument when compared to those that don't and all the evidence makes it quite clear that the the benefits of learning a musical instrument helps education and development in all subjects for everyone as the skills required for instrumental playing are all essential skills in everyday life.
