Abolish SEN statements on diagnosis of ASD. Those without one, are being failed.
My stepson, like many other children, has Asperger's. But, because he is intelligent and appears to cope with school, he can't get an educational statement of needs (SEN), resulting in him failing at school. Those without a SEN are being failed. I want to bring change to give him what he needs.
Severe stress, anxiety and lack of support, from any part of the system, has left him facing his GCSE year with 43% attendance, inability to do moc's or exams and grades dropped from A's & C,s to U. We've had to resort to a Child Psychologist, consultant and our MP, Theresa May, to get the desperately required action to manage the associated issues. He's been failed by 'the system' and facing a bleak future without the needed help. Abolishing SEN will change his life and thousands like him.
