Ban politicians claiming unnecessary expenses such as food, furniture, insurance
A strict new list of expenses which can be claimed, leaving no loopholes or grey areas.
Millions of taxpayers money wasted on unnecessary expenses claimed by local & national politicians exploiting a flawed system.
Taxpayers do not claim expenses for food, insurance, furniture etc so why should politicians claim when their wages on which is higher than most of the UK joint income.
Plastered on every newspaper years ago yet with no recent outcome & politicians still claiming unnecessary expenses. With the recent austerity cuts to local councils - this only seems fair that expenses for politicians should also be cut.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government and Parliament don’t have the power to determine what can and cannot be claimed on expenses. That power was given by Parliament to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) in 2010, so that after 2012 MPs no longer had control over their expenses or pay.
