Petition Action

Stop MPs blocking scheduled debates by making excessively long speeches.

Petition Details

Caroline Lucas tried to introduce the NHS Reinstatement Bill, however backbench MPs used up scheduled time making excessively long speeches on a short bill which had already been debated. This may be viewed as a deliberate attempt to block the bill through undemoocratic methods and should be banned.

Additional Information

This is not the only example of this and it makes a mockery of a system which is meant to be democratic.
