Stop police from passing animal abuse cases to RSPCA for a private prosecution.

Petition Details

This petition is set up to stop UK police forces from passing potential animal abuse cases to the RSPCA for a private prosecution. We strongly believe that if somebody has abused or caused unnecessary suffering to an animal, which is a criminal offence under the animal welfare act 2006,

Additional Information

The police should deal with the case. Such as they do with any other breach of the law. The case should not be passed over to a private charity and become a private case in the eyes of the law. In recent years there have been many cases were members of the public have had wrongful attempted prosecutions brought upon them. For example, Bob Skinner & Mr Pig in 2015. We believe it is in the best interest of the animals and the public that cases of animal abuse are dealt with by the police from start to finish. Once the case has passed into private hands, what is right and wrong becomes subjective and the lines of the law become blurred, and opinions start to overrule the facts.
