Free travel for university students

Petition Details

University fees for students currently is £9000, a huge sum of money within itself. This cost excludes travel, living, books and other necessities which amount to a high price that many students can't afford. Free travel would ease the financial problems that students suffer.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition in its current form as it does not call for a clear action from the UK Government and Parliament. The Government isn't directly responsible for the costs of bus and train travel. You could start a petition calling on the Government to provide funding for a free travel card for students.
