The £829,000 should be written off by the MOD.
Around a decade ago army pilots were paid retention bonuses. This amounted to £829,000 in total. Some of these bonuses were overpaid due to an administrative error. It costs around £3.6 million to train an Apache helicopter pilot. Losing pilots due to low morale and persecution is not worth the cost
Around a decade ago Army pilots were overpaid retention bonuses due to an administrative error. These overpayments amounted to £829,000 in total. It costs about £3.6m to train an Apache pilot. At least 15 pilots have already resigned over the action being taken by the MOD. The MOD should just write this error off and stop pursuing the individual pilots.
