Petition Action

Stop Nottingham City Council campaigning against begging and fining beggars

Petition Details

Recently Nottingham City Council cut funding to 4 homeless shelters. They have since used the money to release a series of posters campaigning against begging. One with the caption 'Begging: Don't watch your money go up in smoke' with a picture of a spliff.

Additional Information

Another poster was released with the caption 'Begging: Don't watch your money go to a fraud'. They have also brought in laws to impose immediate £200 fines to beggars and city centre bans to persistent beggars. Homeless people struggle to get jobs so begging is for the most part their only source of income
