Petition Action

Remove London as our capital city

Petition Details

The purpose of a capital city is to represent our country and its principles, yet London has enjoyed benefits which the rest of the UK has not had (see evidence). Removing London as our capital would remove parliament from the influence of London and listen to the people it was made to represent.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition in its current form as it does not call for a clear action from the UK Government and Parliament. You could start a petition calling for the Government and Parliament to move to another place in the UK. Alternatively, you could call for some of the benefits that London has had to be extended to other parts of the UK.
