Petition Action

Change the law to minimum sentences for people convicted of rape.

Petition Details

Rape victims deserve the right to live their lives. How does having an "unstable mind" allow somebody to get away with any crime, never mind rape. Two rape charges + underage girls = 18 months community service, doesn't seem right, does it? The victims and their families deserve justice.

Additional Information

Anyone that commits a crime should pay for what they've done, especially something as morbid as rape. If you have children, sisters/brothers or anyone that's ever had to deal with rape or any type of abuse, you should definitely sympathise with these families. Please help put these criminals where they belong, which is the jail or if they are too "unstable", there is always a psychiatric hospital.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It's not clear what you would like the minimum sentence for people convicted of rape to be. You could start a new petition calling for a specific minimum sentence, or for a mandatory jail sentence (rather than community service).
