The Alternatieve Vote should replace the FPTP system as it is a fairer system
For those who lack understanding on the Alternative Voting system here is a short video - http://youtu.be/3Y3jE3B8HsE
despite a loss in the last referendum parliament must consider it as it would give more power to the people and allow them to vote for the party they most agree with.
If the AV was introduced all MPs would have the support of a majority of their voters. Following the 2010 General Election, two thirds of the MPs elected lacked majority support, the highest figure in British political history.
AV also reduces the need for tactical voting. Electors can vote for their first-choice candidate without fear of wasting their vote.
Finally It penalises extremist parties, who are unlikely to gain many second-preference votes.
