Petition Action

Make landlord to adhere to a minimum accepted standard when renting a property.

Petition Details

Make landlord obtain some sort of certification to affirm a minimum accepted standard when renting a property. From my experience of renting properties for over inflated rent, I have seen landlords renting their properties where conditions of the property is often poor.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We're not sure what action you would like the UK Government or Parliament to take. Landlords already have an obligation to ensure any property they rent out is safe and in a good state of repair. There are a number of pieces of legislation which require landlords to do this, including several Housing Acts, but your rights are not consolidated in any one place. You can read more about your rights and responsibilities as a tenant here: www.gov.uk/private-renting/your-rights-and-responsibilities.
