No age discrimination in the national minimum wage
Currently, people aged under 25 are discriminated against and paid less despite the fact that employment terms and conditions are the same for those 25 and over. In other aspects of the law, over 18's have the same responsibilities as people aged over 25 and should receive equal pay to reflect this.
The national minimum wage (NMW) for those under the age of 18 (£3.87) is just 53.75% of the NMW for people aged 25 and over (£7.20), with 18-20 year olds receiving 73.61% of this rate (£5.30), and 21-24 year olds earning 93.06% (£6.70).
