Petition Action

Stop discrimination of Hair Colour, Tattoos and Piercings in the workplace

Petition Details

I have created this petition knowing I am not the only person feeling this way.

I have found in many jobs that dying my hair or having arm tattoos is not allowed - that I must only have natural coloured hair.

My hair colour, tattoos and piercings do not affect how hard I work.

Additional Information

Many companies say it is offensive to dye your hair; why? A bit of colour shows you are creative, in an art shop I was told I had to have natural hair.
This IS discrimination.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. Workplace regulations about tattoos and piercings are the responsibility of individual organisations. You could start a petition calling for Parliament to change the law to ban discrimination on these grounds.
