Change the assessment criteria for PIP for incurable illnesses/disabilities
The criteria for PIP unfairly reassess those with long term incurable conditions, who have previously had a life time award. The benefits that have enabled many to live independent lives are being significantly reduced yet their conditions haven't changed and are highly unlikely to.
Personal Independence Payment has replaced Disability Living Alllowance, under which an individual could receive a life time award for such illnesses or disabilities that were incurable. The new benefit has scrapped these life time awards and reassessed everyone. You now have to be bed ridden, house bound and unable to do anything for yourself to receive the equivalent benefit thus leaving people without finances or mobility cars to continue to live the independent lives they had previously.
