Government to give OUT Campaign £9m to spend on leaflets to every household.

Petition Details

David Cameron has seen fit to publish a leaflet in support of staying in the EU at expense of £9 million to the British Taxpayer. This leaflet does not represent the views of all tax-payers or the British Electorate and is against the spirit of a free and fair referendum promised in the elections.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for the issue you raise. The Government does not have the power to make £9.3m of taxpayers money available to the campaigns for leaving the EU, as the Government is not considered a permitted participant under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, meaning it cannot donate to campaign groups.

You might be interested in signing the following petition, calling on the government to make the case for leaving the EU on its leaflets: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/126854
