Discuss imposing restrictions on new driving license holders
Data on British drivers shows that:
Drivers aged 16-19 are a third more likely to die in a crash than drivers aged 40-49.
One in four 18-24 year olds (23%) crash within two years of passing their driving test.
Young male drivers are involved in many more crashes than young female drivers.
Restrictions within the first year of driving would help to decrease new and young driver incidents.
Suggestions previously discussed by the government include having to log 120 hours of supervised practice, including 20 hours at night, being banned from carrying passengers aged under 30 or from driving between the hours of 10pm and 5am unless they are accompanied by an adult aged over 30.
