Change vehicle tax (VED) to operate on a 'date to date' basis.
Change vehicle tax (VED) to operate on a 'date to date' basis rather than the 'month to month' basis that is currently in place.
The 'month to month' basis was necessary when tax discs were printed for display but since the withdrawal of the paper disc, and the adoption of a computerised system there is now no need to align to the start/finish of a month.
This would also correct an issue caused by the non- transferable VED rule that was brought in when selling a used vehicle.
Currently it's possible (and often happens) that the seller & buyer both pay for 1 month of VED due to the overlap.
