Health Sec Jeremy Hunt MP to intervene between Stoke Gifford Council & Parkrun.
Every Saturday morning runners across the country go to local Parkrun events & run 3.1 miles (5km) - the run is organised by volunteers & encourages people of all shapes & sizes to exercise - free of charge.
Stoke Gifford Parish Council intend to levy a charge to runners to fund "path maintenance".
UK policy on public health - "Public health is about helping people to stay healthy, & protecting them from threats to their health. The government wants everyone to be able to make healthier choices, regardless of their circumstances, & to minimise the risk and impact of illness."
These runners will likely be local council tax payers who already contribute to such services. Why charge runners who are trying to stay healthy & free of illness, therefore not draining the NHS as per the policy?

We can't accept your petition because the Health Secretary doesn't have the power to intervene in Stoke Gifford Parish Council's decision making. You can contact the Parish Council at [email protected].
