Change the way that council leaders are able to retain their seats.
Our Tory Council leader can stay wedged in his safe council seat because there is no viable alternative. What I would like to see is a system of governance that goes beyond politics and one whereby citizens who feel that the leader is failing in his/her public duties should be forced to resign.
Councillor Terry Cutmore leader of Rochford Council.
