Change the way that council leaders are able to retain their seats.

Petition Details

Our Tory Council leader can stay wedged in his safe council seat because there is no viable alternative. What I would like to see is a system of governance that goes beyond politics and one whereby citizens who feel that the leader is failing in his/her public duties should be forced to resign.

Additional Information

Councillor Terry Cutmore leader of Rochford Council.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It's not clear how you would like the local government system to be changed. You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like to happen.
