Name the Natural Environment Research Council's boat "Boaty McBoatface"
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) asked members of the public to name their new polar research vessel in a democratic online poll. The winning name, as chosen by tax paying members of the United Kingdom was "Boaty McBoatface".
We the undersigned people demand that MP Jo Johnson honour the democratic decision and name the Natural Environment Research Council's new polar research vessel "Boaty McBoatface".
The name, while "unscientific" shows that science can be fun and would attract many people (as it allready has done) especially young children to science than any name the government could place on this vessel.
Please honour our democratic decision and rightfully name this vessel "Boaty McBoatface".

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
This is a decision for the Natural Environment Research Council, not the Government or Parliament.
